The aim of the course:

To inform the students by providing descriptions of important concepts and practices of modern management, to gain the ability to take the action on the ideas discussed. Students will learn how to make use of basic managerial techniques in order to improve their own management effectiveness and the effectiveness of theirs organizations. The module is accomplished with production cases, quality management, and international management topics.

This course covers following issues:

Basics of the production and firm management (PPM)

  • Conception and meaning of PPM
  • Changes in world economy and its influence of PPM
  • Key activities of PPM

Normative Basics of leading a company

  • Technical norms ISO, EN, ESN etc.
  • Norms of firms and material need
  • Norms of firms and labour need
  • Norms of firms and production capacities
  • Further norms and rules

Key activities of the management

  • Projection activities
  • Management of firm’s activities
  • Management of quality, environment, and work safety
  • Management of side activities
  • Stock maintenance, energetic managing, administrative activities

Development and realization of a new product (product management)

  • Structure of product management
  • Practical examples

Approaches of evaluation and opportunities to increase a firm’s productivity

  • Alternative approaches evaluating productivity
  • Opportunities to increase productivity on customers‘ side
  • Opportunities to increase productivity on products‘ and processes‘ sides
